Uncomplicated recipes was started because after years of avoiding the kitchen, I started embracing sustainability and with that came a love for simple, local, organic home-cooking. I discovered that food doesn't have to be complicated to be delicious and that simpler is often better. Discovering ways to create delicious, simple meals has been a wonderful journey and I hope others will join me. More recently I have also expanded my experimenting to include home made household and beauty products. I became tired of not recognizing the words on the labels of the products and to be quite honest I was no longer willing to wait around and see what kind of effects some of these chemicals would have on our bodies.
All of my recipes are simplified version of the thousands of recipes I have acquired over the years. Some are my own creations, some come from my mom, from online recipe sources and from the many books I own. As much as I can, I will link my recipes to the originals. You can also check out "The Books" page which gives descriptions of each of the books and websites that I use the most.
I try, as much as possible, to first and foremost keep it simple. I try to use local, regional and/or organic ingredients and attempt as much as possible to make everything from scratch so that I know exactly what is in the food I eat and the products I use.
Just recently after watching Julie & Julia, I decided to challenge myself to tackle the thousands of recipes in my library of cookbooks and cooking magazines. Instead of always making my favorite recipes, I am going to go through my cookbooks and select those recipes that can be made uncomplicated, organic and if at all possible from local/regional and/or home-made ingredients. Who said uncomplicated would be without variety?
Wish me luck and welcome to the return to home economics with uncomplicated recipes!
