A New Challenge

Last weekend my boyfriend, Pablo, and I watched Julie & Julia. If you haven't seen it yet, you should! It's a wonderful and uplifting movie. It's based on Julie Powell, a woman who lives in New York , who decides to cook her way through Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking and blog about it.

Upon seeing Julie's husband Erik with a martini in hand tasting Julie's chocolate pie, Pablo and I immediately exclaimed, "That's so us!!" And when the scene of Julie starting her blog came on, we couldn't help laughing and looking back at the day I started this blog.

I totally intend on one day making the recipes in Mastering the Art of French cooking, but before starting the 524 recipes in Julia's book, I have decided to tackle the thousands of recipes in my library of cookbooks and magazines. I have no intention of trying every single one of them, but I have resolved to go through each of them and select those recipes that can be made organic, uncomplicated and if at all possible from local or home-made ingredients.

Wish me luck!

  1. Julie & Julia was super cute! I have a girl date with my girlfriend Sumeira and her baby girl this weekend and we are making the beef bourguignon! I haven't had red meat in a long time, but I think I could for some right now in the middle of winter. I'll most definitely be purchasing a nice organically grown cut of lean meat. I so excited about it! I'll let you know how it turns out and put it up on my blog.
